Subject: Initiatives for Increasing Women Entrepreneurs Loan Portfolio – Immediate Action Required

Dear Branch Managers and SME Officers,

Bangladesh Bank has introduced a Low-Cost Refinance Facility to support women entrepreneurs under the CMSME sector. This is an excellent opportunity to expand our women entrepreneurs loan portfolio while promoting financial inclusion and women’s economic empowerment.

To achieve this goal, all branches are requested to implement the following initiatives with immediate effect.

Initiatives to Increase Women Entrepreneurs Loan Portfolio

  1. Establish a Women Entrepreneur Desk
  • Set up a dedicated desk in every branch.
  • Assign a trained officer to assist women entrepreneurs.
  • Ensure quick service and proper guidance throughout the loan process.
  1. Organize Financial Literacy Programmes
  • Arrange at least one awareness programme every month.
  • Explain loan products, eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, and refinance facilities.
  • Encourage women to use formal banking services.
  1. Simplify the Loan Process
  • Keep documentation simple and customer-friendly.
  • Avoid asking for unnecessary documents.
  • Focus on business potential and repayment capacity.
  1. Set Branch Targets
  • Set monthly loan disbursement targets for women entrepreneurs.
  • Submit monthly progress reports to Head Office within the specified deadline.
  • Monitor branch performance regularly.
  1. Conduct Community Outreach
  • Visit local markets, women entrepreneur associations, and business clusters.
  • Promote the bank’s women entrepreneur loan products.
  • Distribute brochures and provide guidance to potential borrowers.

Please treat this initiative as a priority. If you face any challenges, inform the SME Division at Head Office immediately so that necessary support can be provided.
