Write the steps in conducting interviews

Conducting interviews is a key part of the recruitment process. It helps an organization select the most suitable candidate for a job.

An interview is a structured, goal-oriented conversation. It involves two main stages: preparation and execution.

Part A: Preparation Before the Interview

Arrange time and place:

Select a quiet, private, and distraction-free environment to conduct the interview smoothly.

Review the candidate’s CV:

Study the resume carefully to understand qualifications, experience, and possible gaps.

Prepare job description:

Clearly define the roles, responsibilities, and requirements of the position.

Prepare standard questions:

Create a fixed set of questions to ask all candidates for fair comparison.

Prepare follow-up questions:

Develop additional questions based on each candidate’s CV and background.

Part B: Steps During the Interview

Welcome and introduce yourself:

Greet the candidate politely and introduce your role in the organization.

Explain the interview process:

Briefly inform the candidate about the structure and duration of the interview.

Ask standard questions:

Start with common questions like “Tell me about yourself” to assess basic suitability.

Ask competency-based questions:

Explore skills, experience, strengths, and problem-solving ability through deeper questions.

Allow candidate questions:

Give time for the candidate to ask questions about the job and organization.

Conclusion:

A well-planned and properly conducted interview helps identify the right candidate fairly and efficiently, especially in professional sectors like banking.
